The 15th Hamburg Games Conference, held on March 5 and 6, 2024, at the Altonaer Museum, served as a central hub for international industry professionals to discuss the intersection of gaming and business. The event focused on critical industry themes, including investment strategies, mergers and acquisitions, artificial intelligence in development, and the broader state of the global games market.
The conference attracted 365 guests representing 255 companies from Germany and abroad. The program featured 42 speakers and panelists who delivered 17 talks and five panel discussions. Beyond the formal presentations, the event facilitated significant networking, with nearly 500 business meetings coordinated through the MeetToMatch platform. A notable inclusion in the event’s outreach was the provision of sponsored Opportunity Tickets for 70 industry professionals impacted by recent sector layoffs, ensuring their continued participation in the professional community.
The event also highlighted local innovation through an Expo area, which showcased seven developer teams supported by the Gamecity Hamburg "Road to" program. Specialized workshops and roundtables addressed technical and operational challenges, such as the application of artificial intelligence in entertainment and the complexities of public and private funding within Europe. By combining high-level strategic discourse with practical networking and developer support, the conference reinforced its role as a key venue for fostering business development and professional exchange within the international games industry.
