Konami Group achieved record-high revenue of ¥314.3 billion for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023, representing a 4.9% year-on-year increase. This growth was primarily fueled by a robust performance in the Gaming & Systems segment, which saw revenue surge by 50.5%, alongside a steady 8.4% increase in the Sports segment. The weakening of the yen further bolstered these top-line results, reflecting the company’s strong international market presence and diversified business model.
Despite these revenue gains, profitability faced significant downward pressure throughout the period. Business profit fell by 29.5% to ¥56.6 billion, and profit attributable to owners of the parent declined by 36.3% to ¥34.9 billion. These contractions were largely driven by escalating operational expenses, including higher development costs, increased promotional spending, and rising energy prices that particularly impacted the Sports segment. Operating profit also saw a notable decrease, falling to ¥46.2 billion from the previous year’s ¥74.4 billion.
The company maintains a stable financial foundation, characterized by total assets of ¥547.2 billion and a solid equity ratio of 68.8%, which supports a consistent annual dividend of 124 yen per share. Looking ahead, the strategic focus centers on scaling cross-platform digital entertainment, expanding the Pilates Mirror studio network, and integrating AI-driven technologies into both gaming and casino management systems. Despite the recent decline in net earnings, management maintains a positive outlook, forecasting continued growth in both revenue and profitability for the upcoming fiscal year as these strategic initiatives take hold.
