GungHo Online Entertainment has announced the development of Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet, a sequel to its popular Ninja Gum action series, which has achieved over 11 million global downloads. Scheduled for a spring 2027 release, this title is developed exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. The game transitions the series into an open-world format, featuring a narrative-driven experience where players navigate an unknown planet to return to Earth. The project is structured as a two-part story, with the second half planned as future downloadable content.
The gameplay retains the signature high-speed gum action of the original series while introducing expanded mechanics for both solo and four-player multiplayer modes. To support the global launch, the company will showcase the title at Anime Expo in Los Angeles in July 2026, providing early access to the public. A teaser site and social media campaigns have been launched to coincide with the announcement and the upcoming sixth anniversary of the original Ninjala.
The release will support a wide range of languages, including Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese. This strategic expansion reflects GungHo’s commitment to delivering high-quality, globally accessible content. While the pricing remains to be determined, the announcement underscores the company's focus on leveraging next-generation hardware to evolve its established intellectual property for an international audience.
