quick because I just posted I started going live and the Twitter title is wrong. So, let me see if I can fix it really quick. Um, let's play your games update. There we go. Um, let's think here. How's everybody doing? Come on in. Welcome, welcome, welcome. I need to stop being distracted here. We're going to play some of your games today. And here's the fun part, guys. We're gonna be playing horror games only today. We've got three horror games. I just felt like playing some horror games. So, we're gonna play some horror games today. And look, guys, I'm not a genius. I'm okay. Like, I I what I teach about on this channel, what I've always taught about on this channel for the most part is how to make games profitably, right? how to do it and and either do it full-time or find a way to make some money, how to market yourself, how to market your game, how to build an
audience. So, I make games that are fine. They do fine, right? They're not super duper viral, right? They're fine. And so I'm not a genius, but I am going to offer feedback based on my experience of making a game that gets reasonable, you know, plays on Steam. And uh if a game is worthy of maybe getting hitting the Steamfront page or finding a publisher, I can always offer feedback for that as well because I feel like I understand that stuff pretty good because that's kind of what I've done for the last three projects I've worked on. Um so we're going to offer constructive criticism for these games um to help the developers. That's the ultimate goal, right? help the developers um make great games. I want to say a huge huge double huge thank you to man this it just means so much to me. I'm I'm I am always so humbled and gracious when students enroll in my programs. uh in in this case uh John Vai Hassan Jonas Bruno Mad Andreas our
heruro our hero Liam welcome to Fulltime GameDev. It means the world to me that you enrolled in the program during the spring sale. And by the way, if you want to join during the spring sale, it's a limited time uh deal, 50 freaking% off full-time gamedev. And you're also going to get my 2D art program and my 3D art program completely free. If you're curious about what this program is, it's basically everything I've learned in the last decade of signing deals with publishers, getting funded on Kickstarter, hitting the Steam front page, getting press coverage, making games that aren't necessarily viral, but but somehow brought in not only a full-time income for my family, but actually built wealth for my family. I teach about that. It's a it's a business course on one side, but it's also a how to make a game on the other side. you you're going to learn how to code, make a 2D or 3D game, Unity, GDAU, Unreal, whichever engine you want to learn, right? Um, but also
how to hit the Steam front page, how to get wish list, how to reach out to the press, how to get press coverage. I've had Time Magazine Washington Post. I've had PC Gamer write about my games. I've had Jack Septic I play my games. There's hacks and tricks and honestly rules that you got to follow to run a successful indie game studio. Um, and I'm going to teach you how to do it. you could actually go full-time with just a demo. Uh, in fact, look, these students did it, which is nuts. They took the course, figured out how to turn a prototype into a paycheck. It's guys, honestly, it's not that crazy when you think about it. You make a great demo, you sell it to an investor. I I mean, that's really what what this is. I teach you how to do it in this course. It's a great investment in your future. 50% off and you're also going to get my 2D art programs and my 3D art programs. And hey, I'll also throw in an hour-long private mastermind meeting just with me and like probably 10 other students. That's usually how many show up in these
private masterminds. So, I'll be able to meet you, hang out with you, and also I'll give you a shout out in tomorrow's live stream. Actually, Monday's uh Monday's live Monday's live stream. Okay, let's play some games today, guys. Let's play some wonderful games. I'm so excited to play The Floor Above. I'll tell you, I saw this game and this is one of my followers on Twitter sent it to me. They made this game and I looked at it and I thought, "This game might be too scary for me." And I don't know what's going on with me lately. I'll be honest with you guys. I don't know what's going on with me lately, but I'm I'm I don't know. I think I might be moving out of my horror phase in my life because I want to play like
cute games these days. Anyway, let's play this though and see if see if it's too scary for Thomas. Is game development possible without game design? Sure. Uh, well, I guess what you mean is without good knowledge of game design. Yeah, I would say that Pinstripe and Neverong, this is a bundle deal. It's some Asian copy. I don't know what it is. not not great game design if I'm being completely honest about my own work, but I was able to secure full-time income from those games and and build build my family's wealth with those games. Um, yeah. Okay. Well, let's see here. I wish those made a sound. Let's hit new game here. Menu is pretty good. Uh, we're defaulting at 1080p,
which is good. I wish there was a sound for all the clicks. Don't underestimate the value of this. Highly recommend to the developer. Let's click new game. I need a sound. I really don't like ear ringing when I when I in games. I would shorten that if I was a developer. We really don't need to hear that. Hey, that's good animation.
Hey. Hello. Can you hear me?
Nice.
Do you remember who you are?
Probably not.
Listen, let's get straight to the point.
This is great.
How you can get out? All you have to do is press the right buttons. Remember this. If the room looks abnormal, press
the red one. If it looks normal, press the green one. Got it.
Okay.
Begin. This is great. Left shift view the buttons. Oh, cool. I kind of wish that was there was a nice clean left shift icon on screen. That felt really cheap. Um, let me turn the volume up for you guys. This This is really well done. So, we're looking for something abnormal. I love that the the chair squeaks when I move. This is such a cool concept. I love this. This is like um kind of like spot the difference. Honestly, if I was the developer,
don't even make me use a cursor here. Just make me use the mouse. I just press that and it's my finger and then I press right click and it's my middle finger because it looks exactly like a mouse. That would make it feel much more visceral. Um, do you guys agree or disagree with that? Cuz right now I have to hold shift and do that. And I'm just like, why not just why not just let me press a key or press the mouse and it and it just works. I would I would reduce the chromatic aberration. Is that what you call it? It's a little too intense. Okay, I'm good. What? Oh, cool. That scared me.
Oh, that's great. disappeared from the wall. That's way too obvious. Let's make sure the room isn't trying to fool you.
Oh my word, that scared me.
Where the TV used to be, then close your
eyes.
Okay.
If the TV is back when you open them, that means the room is normal and you should press the green button. If not, press the red one.
What? Left mouse button zoom in. So, what am I doing? I I I missed that. I was thinking about the control scheme. That's not normal. Her eyes are red. Oh, I can close my eyes with my right click. So, that kind of makes sense, guys. Uh, well, not really, actually. If I were the developer, I would
make close my eyes, um, escape or like backspace, and zoom would be like the middle mouse button. I love the idea of being able to press just those two buttons. as like the core the core gimmick of the game. So that's that's ideally what I would do is make them make the the the mouse whatever that keypad is and then shift is closing eyes. That's what I would do. So we're good, right? When to press the green button? When you don't see any changes in the room. You saw a hallucination, but then it disappeared and the room looks normal.
Okay, it's a little bit confusing. I'll be honest with you. Press the green button when you don't see any changes in the room or you saw a hallucination, but then it disappeared and the room looks normal. The room looks different than usual. You saw a hallucination that doesn't disappear. It's a little confusing because it's like if I see something like a a demon face, I'm going to immediately say the room is not normal. So that's a little confusing. The room may room may play with your imagination and not everything you see is dangerous. Close your eyes to check hallucinations. Some will disappear. So I guess it's just basically if you have a hallucination, you're fine. I guess to escape the room, you need to press the correct button nine times in a row. The counter of correct answers above the door. Good luck. That's interesting. I I
kind of love the idea of being in this one room. So anyway, okay, I think we're good. What? If you're unsure about something around you, just close your eyes.
Did I get it?
We'll give you answers, but don't keep them closed too long.
Okay. Okay. I'll trust you guys. You guys know I'm a dummy. Um,
I love this. This is so spooky. It's really well done. I I will say this game is really well done. I I feel very very interested in what I'm playing. I love the artwork. Um, I like the the voice actor is really spooky. The sound design is incredible. I I think the UI and the controls are really the weakest point of the game so far. Um, I think that that the the the overlay that I got felt really out of place. Um, that UI was really me like confusing. I would make it super clean. I would I would reference David Whley's um um We Harvest Shadows for a game that looks like this. It's very clean, simple UI. The UI should not pull me out out of the reality of this situation. Um, it just felt too cartoony. And then also the controls and and the on-creen text is just kind of not working for me.
Um, I've I've mentioned what I think the controls should be. This is click and click. Um, I wouldn't use a mouse there at all. Um, and then I would use shift is shift backspace is closing my eyes and shift is zooming in or something or or middle click is zooming in. Okay, let's look around. What do we What do we think, guys? So, it's a spot the difference game really. You're looking for changes, not necessarily jump scares. It's a really well-made game. I think it's a brilliant concept. very uh impressed. I don't see anything different honestly. Now I don't know why the blinking exists. It's not It doesn't fully make sense to me.
Okay, I think we're good. What do you guys think? Green or green or red? And this is such a great concept for streaming as well because you can get the uh the audience to to help you out. Oops. What do we think, guys? Hey, John, thanks so much for joining Fulltime GameDev. That means the world to me. Seriously, man. I saw I saw when you um enrolled. I saw it on my phone and I just I was like, that is so awesome. Thank you so much. Um, green. Okay, I think we're good. See, I don't know what that red means. I don't know whether I was correct. Do you guys know whether you were correct or not?
Seems like everything's fine in this room, but better double check. As long as you're in the chair, always double check.
So, that's another thing that I'm not quite sure about. Um, so this room is different because of the TV, right? That's another thing I'm unsure about with this game is like knowing whether I was right or wrong. I feel like the developer needs to clarify that with like a shock in the chair or like you get stabbed by needles or something. And that that would also potentially increase the feeling of of the threat, right? Or you like a finger gets cut off every time you make a mistake. That would be awesome. You look down and it's like and your fingers kind of but maybe I'm wrong here. So I feel like the TV is flickering. I saw it flicker. So maybe that's what makes it different. Oh, that's so creepy looking. Yeah, I think that's uh wrong.
Yeah, I'm unsure, guys, honestly.
Who do we have here? Meet Morty. He's here to defend you.
Rooms with Morty are safe, but you still need to press the red button. It's strange, but the room wants it that way.
Okay. Who's Morty? Oh, it's a kitty cat. That's great. I love it. Good job. I loved how that was so well animated and so simple. That was awesome. Oh, that's great. So scary. Oh, I got chills. I didn't love the music, though. I think the music kind of felt cheesy, but that was great. So, this room's wrong. But he said press the green button, right?
So, yeah, I need to know how many I've I've gotten correct. Yeah, I kind of feel like if if you hit the red button No, I mean I feel like you should just get feedback. It's okay if you go up. I just feel like you should get feedback whether you're right or wrong. I am Oh, that's great. I love that. No, no, that's awesome. You going to get me?
So, apparently you can die. Uh I'm not sure. There's There's certain things There's certain things that either I'm too stupid to understand or there's certain things that don't aren't fully clear to me. Um, what a solid what a solid game though. I wish it was much clearer when you fail or pass. I wish the controls were were cleaned up a little bit and I wish the UI was simplified and cleaned up. Um, I wish that death was apparent because that I didn't know that I my thinking is if you get it wrong too many times, you die, right? It's like jigsaw um in Saw. So, I feel like there's a there's there's some miscommunication
about the mechanics and how things basically punishment and failure or rewards and punishment. I don't think it's very clear. Um, Thomas, the number on the top of the door indicates how many answers you got right. And maybe Yeah, I don't know whether the the button is what killed me or was it the woman. So, there's just a lack of clarity there, I think. And I think those are easily solved. Seriously, I do. I think those are easily solved problems. Um, so let me ask you guys in the chat, and this is for the developer, right? Let me ask you in the chat, rate how how how clear everything was to you, the mechanics and the rules of the game. Rate it A+ all the way to F minus. This is for the developer. Rate how clear were were the mechanics and the rules for the game. A+ to F minus. and and
rate in the chat. F minus is that didn't make any sense to me. I don't know what the rules are. A+ is it made complete sense. And I'm asking because just because Thomas the dummy can't fully understand it. It doesn't mean the developer needs to change it. And this is so true with with just play testing and beta testing. Sometimes you get one or two people out of 30 people and they just don't get it right. Okay, we got a a plus a c plus c c b minus c a minus b minus a minus b. What else we got, guys? D BB. So, I'd say the developer. You didn't get it either, Jason? Me neither. I'd
say the developer um needs to fine-tune it. Really, the rules of the game should be an A+ every time. And especially a game as simple as this, it should be clear as day what the rules are, right? But man, and we're going to move on to the next game, but man, the developer is did a great job. I think that's such a clever idea. I love those sort of I wouldn't call it an idle clicker, but it is like a clicky game and it's very simple and you're just pivoting on a swivel and that's great. I mean, I think that's that's what a lot of indie developers need to do. They need to focus on a singular mechanic. I was talking to Jason, who's Maslini in the chat. I was talking to him yesterday and uh the I was talking about I think you and I were talking about the temptation to just add so many different features to my next game idea, but I have to I have
to bring down the scope and focus on one thing. And oftentimes when you focus on just one thing like this game did, you actually come up with some really creative ways to make one thing really unique. And it's also cheaper, right? So, uh, huge, huge applause to that developer. Next game is called Packside. Packside. Uh, looks like a lot of fun. And by the way, if you're in the chat or if you just joined, feel free to check out the link below. Um, Thomas is doing his quarterly, uh, shilling of his courses. Um, but truthfully, the course is awesome. It's called Fulltime GameDev. It's 50% off right now. And by the way, if you're a student, let me know what you think about the program in the chat. I believe in the program. I know that it's good because 4,500 students is one thing, but to have actual students go full-time, which you can read the reviews on the main uh the front page of the website.
People went full-time. They signed with publishers. They did a Kickstarter campaign. They they released a game on Steam and made enough money to go full-time. And they said that it was with the help of the course, which is so cool. Um, so it's 50% off. uh for a limited time. There's just less than a 100 seats available. So check it out below. And honestly guys, thanks for letting me do these ad reads. They help support the channel and support the last leg of Twisted Towers development, which is my game. It's actually right here. There it is. Look how many hours I've played. Look at that. 99 hours. I have played so much of this game. I hate it to death. I hate this game. Um, but I'm proud of it. Um, I'm ready to start my fourth commercial game. But let's hit Packside. Let's hit play here and play some Packside. Okay. This game contains flashing lights
and images. So far, I like that music. Sounds like The Shining. Oh, I love that. Oh, the music feels great. Oh, I like it. Let's hit start game.
Attention. Please remember to wear sunglass while playing. This will help prevent the harmful realization from affecting your body, otherwise your ass will explode. Oh man. Packside. Yeah, this camera controller is actually really good. Or character controller. This feels
great. That's great. How do you decide which games you play? Is it just the Discord? No, it's uh twitter.com or x.com/thomasbrushdev. Okay, so this is a sprinting game. Oh gosh. Oh man. Is he behind me? What's going on? No wonder there was an epilepsy warning. Golly.
Okay. So, I'm not really sure what the what the rules are, but we're going to keep playing and hopefully we'll beat this level. No, no, no. He's faster. I love that Pac-Man is the villain here. This is great. It's very clever. I'm not sure if it's legal uh to use Pac-Man, but it's cool. Great character controller. Oh gosh. Um trying to figure out like is there is there enough of a warning, you know? Um
Okay, guys. Can you help me out here? What's the uh what's the what are the rules here? Anybody know? I love the simplicity of it. Uh I'm not sure what the rules are. I mean, obviously collect the the coins, but Gosh. So, what are the rules? I don't know where he is.
I don't know where he is. See, but he's not behind me. So, I don't know. H I don't fully understand. You really can't make a mistake. Oh gosh. Oh gosh. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO.
OKAY. I think I got it. I think I understand. Stop. No. Okay. So, I I don't know how much more I can handle that. It's It's It's a cool concept. I'm not sure if it's legal. Uh, if this game went super viral, you'd you'd want to be careful that you weren't stepping on the Pac-Man IP. Um, I wouldn't touch this if it were me. I wouldn't make something like this because it I would be too paranoid. Um, now I feel like there needs to be some kind of UI indicator um that he's chasing you. So yeah, and then I would also reward the player a little quicker. I would I would start the player at like collect
50. Show them that what happens when you win so that they feel the desire to win. Because if I don't feel if I don't win something like in the first 30 seconds, the first two minutes, I don't know what's on the other side of winning. So, I won't really care. Is there a biome change? Is there a music change? So, yeah. It's not Pack Man, it's Waka Man. Yeah. Oh, yeah. So, I don't know. I don't know. I kind of have a headache now if I'm being honest. So, I'm and and to the developer, I'm not saying it's bad. It's just not it's because it it was well done. Like the UI is good, the music's good, the sound design is good. It's just kind of headacheinducing and kind of rage inducing, and I don't know if that's that's something I want to deal with
right now. Um, so let's go ahead and play Parisomnia. the Pac-Man dubstep dubstep and seizure inducing visuals weren't an indicator enough that you were being chased. So, what do we guys what do we guys what do you guys think about the game? Um, what are some what's some feedback you'd like the developer to hear in the chat? Let me know. What are some things that you feel like could help the game? Let's not tear it down. Let's try and build it up by um providing positive feedback to the developer. Right. Vanet said that's unbearable. Yeah, it it's painful. It is painful and kind of annoying. I don't think you need obnoxious red
lights flashing to be scary. In fact, it made it less scary. I think it'd be much scarier if all you heard was that's it. And then being able to get away from it um by by by maybe slowing it down or Yeah, I I would I would think about that. needs some UI showing the dots, pickups, and enemy and player on GPS of your location. I agree. Um, the biggest problem is the potential lawsuit. Uh, yeah, I need to know what a win means. New skill. That's a that's totally true. So, that's why you start the player in a a level that you only have to collect 50 and you give them a quick win. Give them a quick reward, right? Um, and then and then after that, make it as hard as you want. Just give me that one win so that I know that winning is worth my time,
right? The panic music should come from Pac-Man itself. Yeah, let's just amplify the uh the lawsuit problem. Might as well, right? Uh, yeah. I don't know. I don't know. Okay. Parisomnia. No. Let's hit play. Here we go. Here we go. Bell's games. Use headphones for better experience. Parisomia roarium.
Good. Good vibes, guys. Capture the vibes. Feel the vibes. That's good music. That's really good music. Wow. Who wrote that? Luca Nicola. Let's look at that up on Spotify. Give me a sec. We're gonna look up this composer on Spotify. That's legit good music. Very good music. I'm gonna reach out to this person, honestly. Luca Nola. My theory is they're on Spotify. Nicole Laauo. Luca Nicolola. There he is. What did I freaking tell you? Um,
so it did did music for the album called I Hear Red. I See Red. It's a game. Yeah, this is so good. This music. Listen to it, guys. Hold on. I'm serious. I rarely rarely do we play a g an indie game where the music is rock solid. Listen. And it has melody to it, which is often times you don't get melody. You get ambience, but you don't get melody. Isn't that great? Oh,
great. Way to go. Great job, Luca. I hope someone sends this to Luca. Great job. Oh, yes. It looks great. Oh, give me some voice acting. Come on. Finally home. I can't wait to go to bed and get some sleep. Oh man. Dang it. There's no voice acting and the writing wasn't very good. That stinks. It should have said something like, um, I'm exhausted. It's time for bed. That's it. Nothing. That was way too like hamfisted.
Give me some. I would I would It's guys, believe it or not, adding legs to your first person controller is not hard. It's actually very simple. I got it done in like two hours in Twisted Tower. Now, there were bugs. This is great. 2023, the year of AI. The future of work is here. Adapt or fall behind. No thanks. I should go to sleep. I I should go to sleep. I should go to I should go to sleep. I should go to sleep. That's Why does it look so big? Is it actually? I'm trying to think like that's like as big as my head. I feel like I'd shrink
that color. Color grading is really good. Uh the lighting is really good. You can notice we've got complimentary colors. We've got blue moonlight and then like a warm lamp light. Looks really good. Oh yeah. Feels great. Okay, what do we got? We got a jump scare. I should go to sleep. This guy's house is huge. I should go to sleep. So, don't don't have that play. It should be It's locked from the inside. I should go to sleep. Get rid of the controls at the top of the screen. We don't need to see that. Those are the last controls you should
ever tell somebody. They know that they can move with WD. They know that they can sprint with shift. They don't need to see that. They know that they can click to interact. Get rid of those. I would avoid using AI art if it were me. Yeah, all of this is AI. This midjourney and I I'm happy to be corrected, but it it all this all looks like AI. You could just see it. I mean, you you guys know this. You could just see it in games lately. Every painting has an AI midjourney look to it. The the game itself, this looks incredible. The developer did a really good job here. Um,
okay. We're turning on all the lights. Okay. Okay. I already went up here, so we've been playing for five minutes, and sure, I've done some talking, but I You should really give me something pretty quick. Some kind of jump scare or something. a like imagine if um I come up the stairs right here and there's a a person's head sticking out right here and I move forward it goes away, right? Or a shadow is goes across the window. Just something. Give me some kind of trigger. Oh, that's fun. I should go to sleep. I haven't slept in so long that I've forgotten where I left I haven't slept
in so long that I've forgotten where I left my pajamas. I haven't I haven't slept in so long. sleeping pills. Do not consume more than three per week. We need some ambience. We'll talk about that in a sec. Let me read this though. Do not suddenly stop these medications. Yeah, there's no ambience. We need ambience. Create addiction and dependency. You are likely to feel dizzy. Okay. On Yeah, this is hard to read on. And that's not how you write cursive. So cursive, you shouldn't have spaces. So it just feels strange. Um, on rare occasions, you may be able to make phone calls or drive while you are asleep. What?
On rare occasions, you may be able to make phone calls or drive while you are asleep. Not sure what that means. Hello. That's great. Feels good to click. Oh, good. Hey, this looks awesome. Isn't this great? Lighting. Press to read the letter. James Joseph went missing. lots of AI portraits, which is fine. I understand. It's just I'm not saying the developer is wrong or it looks bad. I'm just saying you can tell. And it's just all every game's poster looks kind of the same or every game's like portraits and posters and cl newspaper clippings, they
all kind of have the same look because of AI. So, yeah, I'm not really sure what the motive is. I'm not sure what the mystery is. Um, nothing scary happened yet. So, I would just say that personally, I'm kind of losing interest a little bit. Um, and uh, yeah, I'm I'm losing a little bit of interest here. And it's not it's not poorly made. It's actually very well made. I think there's just a um a pacing problem. We we're expecting the player to to have more patience than they probably will. Um so yeah, just steal pictures of families off of Google images. The motive is to go to sleep. Yeah. And that's not a strong motive, is it? We shouldn't we we need to start the game with like a phone call and it's uh
our grandmother and you say grandmother? Who is this? It's your granny. I'm here to tell you about the toy under your bed. Be careful. It might smile. Grandma, I know this isn't you. You've been dead for years. Give me something. some weird mystery so that it propels me forward. I should change my clothes and take the pills before bed. Let's go. I should I I should look for something comfortable before I should look for something comfortable before taking the pills. Jammies. Oh, I want to look down and see myself in my jammies.
I love doing that. Why do I like doing that? Okie dokie. Let's uh go ahead and grab my pills. Sleeping pills. 10 milligrams. Fall asleep faster. Oh, that feels great. Oh, be a This is a This is a trick that I've learned um that a lot of indie developers try and avoid. They don't they don't they're not willing to cheat with sound. Be totally fine with cheating with sound. Play the sound of a lid. Give me the sound of the pills shaking. Give me the sound of it putting in my mouth and rattling against my teeth and swallowing. Give me the whole sound even though no animation plays. Instead, all I heard was the sound of drinking water. So, that can make you feel a lot more um
it makes the world feel a lot more visceral. I don't think this is from Sarendinator. I don't think we should witch hunt a AI art because I've seen people get messed up with accusations when they were artists. I totally agree. I totally agree. It's just, you know, it's pretty most of these are are AI art. And I'm not saying the developer is wrong. I'm just saying you can tell. And it it sometimes it feels repetitive. I'm not even gonna say cheap. It just feels repetitive when you see very silky smooth AI art. These portraits like that one there and that one there. So, I'm not witch hunting. I'm not I'm really not. So, nothing's really happened. I'm just putting on clothes and putting on my sleeping pills, but
there's no motive. There's no mystery that's happened. And and I just think it would probably be a better idea to do that. Uh, let's go to sleep. I've done a lot of talking though. But look, this is a streaming game. It's great for streaming. So, streamers are going to talk. You know, 3D Printer Academy said, um, I got accused of using AI images, but they weren't even AI. Yeah, I hear a pistol. There we go. Okay, so here's the thing. I really think we should get the player here much quicker.
This is great. I would shorten that intro. I would I would create a hallway and I'm immediately in the room. And I know what a lot of you are thinking, Thomas, you're so impatient. I'm just telling you after doing a ton of play testing with my own horror adjacent game, I can tell you players, they move slow. They do. They don't rush things, which is great, but they take their time and that can be a problem. Yeah, we should have started right here. That's exactly right. Now, the sleeping pills are relevant to the story, I'm sure, because I think the sleeping pills are part of like the problem here. So, I would have started with the the player grabbing the sleeping pills, eating the pills, and going to sleep. And then right there, that's the start. Am I Am I dreaming?
Am I dreaming? Am I dreaming? Nothing like the sound of a baby crying. I love babies. That's great. Look at that shader. And the music's good, too. We should have started here, you guys. All the AI art's gone. I'm And I'm I'm not telling you I'm 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure. Doesn't even matter at this point. If I hold shift, things stretch. Looks great. What a great game. The sound. The sound is gone.
How many of you have kids? Seeing a kid's bedroom is really beautiful. It's just so There's something something about having kids. All of a sudden, you just every little thing is nostalgic for me. Seeing a a block on the floor makes me think of my own kids. Sora is shutting down. Yeah, there's something really relieving about that. And there's certain things about AI that are I really like. I I really do enjoy Claude. Claude helps me out so much. Um yeah, but okay, let's keep going. Oh no, that was great. Good job. Scary. And if I act silly when I get scared, it's cuz I'm actually scared. I'm not making fun of the game. It's just the way that I feel better. Let's eat the spaghetti.
What is this? There's something written, but I can't What is this? There's something written, but I can't re my favorite toy as a child. Looks like it has something inside, but I can't get it out. Where? I don't see it. Hold to connect with your sleepwalking body. Oh. What? So, I have to connect to my sleepwalking body. Oh, cool. That's so great. I love that. Way to go.
Let's play a game. Or let's play a game. That is awesome. It's locked. Oh, yes. I love that. Close your eye and find me. Really well done developer. This This is where the game should have started. This whole thing. 10 out of 10. That intro can really hurt a game. That's great. My favorite toy as a child. It looks like it has something inside.
Close your eye and find me. Ooh. Huh? This is going to be great. This better be scary. By the way, if I open it, it needs to be terrifying. Yay. This is great. Great sound. The music's awesome. Okay, let's let's read the story. Sorry, I'm just looking at it. I'm thinking about how they did this.
There was a man and the man or there was a boy and he had mommy and daddy and the boy had a sister and the boy was left out because of the new sister. And the boy was upset and he locked himself in a room. And then a little man or a tall creature came and took the boy. I think that's me. Yay. Good job, developer. This is wonderfully made. Charlie That's great.
It's locked. It's locked. Give me a jump scare. Come on. Something. Oh, what's that? Oh, that's great. That's so scary. You killed him. I swear to God I didn't. Oh, too bad. I missed it. I didn't see it. Did you guys see it? We need to make
that the look trigger about right smack dab in the center. I think there was something there, maybe. Yeah, this is phenomenally made. I'm really really proud of the developer. Is that Johnny Depp? There's three Johnny Depp sitting on a tree. K I S S I N G. Room's key added to inventory. That's kind of cool. It It It scares me. Oh gosh, that was great. That really scared me actually. Now, I will say I would have
been much scarier if that wasn't this the model. That creature doesn't scare me as much. The music scared me, but I don't that creature model wasn't scary. Let's ask the audience though. Don't trust me. Rate the scariness of that creature model. A+ real scary. F minus not scary at all. Go ahead. This game in VR would be something else. Yeah, I totally agree, Jason. So, I woke up. We need to go down to the workman's room. It's locked. Yeah, I'd say that the the flaw that with the game, if there is one, is the intro. I would I would speed that up. And then also, I don't know what's going
on. Despite the fact that the the triggered sequences are great and the the atmosphere and the mood is great, I don't really know like I don't really have a motive. It's not really clear to me. Abstraction is a wonderful thing and that's totally fine in a game. Um but but you want some kind of emotional throughine that does make sense. So like you're trying to find your daughter. That's us like a real trope. I I like to lean into those tropes because then I can scatter abstraction around that singular uh obvious trope. You want the player to be able to latch on to some kind of motive. And right now I don't really have one. Um so yeah. Oh, give me a pistol. Come on. Some of dad's trophies. I wish I had been one of them. Okay. Tell me how you really feel.
You know, if this is a necessary thing to read, I would shorten it. But if it's just added fluff to the story, then it's fine. But this is a lot. Levi Miller, male, born 2003. So he's like what? 23 years old. Well, it says age 10. Oh, so this is Okay. So, okay. Levi was brought in for consultation by his mother due to recurring episodes of sleepwalking that began approximately 6 months ago, occurring several times a week. During these episodes, Levi gets out of bed, walks around the house, and sometimes engages in activities such as opening doors or moving objects. These episodes usually last between five and 15 minutes after which he either returns to bed blah blah blah. Some cool tests
were done during the evaluation. Patient appeared alert. It's just a lot to read. You know, I would I would I would simplify this significantly and just give me what I need. Um it's not AI text. Y'all don't be so AI uh witch hunty. Maybe you're doing that because of me and you're making fun of me, but I'm not wrong. Those those those those pictures were definitely midjourney. Okay. And I don't I don't say that kind of stuff often. I really don't. Um so insomnia good slight ele so we sleepwalk is basically all that we really needed to gather from here and that's needs to be bolded. Cannot read texts. What? He cannot read texts like his phone.
Really hard to read. Super dark in here. So, yeah, I'm I'm not sure where to go. A bathroom. No, not a bathroom. They scare me. Not a shower curtain, mama. Guys, I don't want to do it. That was great. I love that.
Good job. I don't know how you do that. I don't know how to do that. I guess I need Unreal Engine to do that. Um, or I need to be as smart as the developer. How's that? Great job, devel I mean, you kind of need to put it something in there. Now I'm kind of I will say this. If I come back, there better be something in that shower curtain or this is a totally missed opportunity. You got to let me flush the toilet always. That's that's a rule in games, by the way. You really have to let the player flush the toilet. You guys think it's baked? I don't think it's baked. Let's see.
Yeah, I think you're right. That's great. Yeah. Very cool. Yeah. So, it's you you guys think it's a baked Blender animation. Cool. I think it's great. All right. You should have put like a baby doll in there or something. Unless maybe we're going to come back and there's going to be some cool stuff in the shower. And definitely getting lost. Just getting a little lost here, which is a little frustrating. But yeah, that is a cool effect, isn't it, guys? Okay, let's go ahead and vote. Let's go ahead and vote, ladies and
gentlemen, on our favorite game. Okay. So, I'm going to go ahead and throw up the uh the poll here. Give me just a sec, guys, to throw up a poll for our favorite game. Um, one sec. One sec. The poll here. One sec. Start a poll. What was your favorite game? And guys, we're also going to predict what our favorite game is. Floor Above, Packside, and Parisomnia. Floor Above. Is that what it's called? Yep. Packside and parasomnia.
Okay, I'm gonna start the poll here and go. Poll is started. I'm not going to look at it. I don't like to look at the poll because I like to try and guess what what the winner is going to be. While we do that, again, just a huge huge thank you. Seriously, to John, Vi, Hassan, be sure to vote, guys. Jonas, Bruno, Madame, Andreas, Ahiro, Liam Forest. Thank you so much for joining Fulltime GameDev. And by the way, guys, if you want to check out the course and learn how uh well, pretty much everything I've learned in the last decade of making indie games, uh whether it's signing with publishers, and by the way, those publishers helped me, you know, release PlayStation copies of my game never song, release Nintendo Switch copies of of Pinstripe. If you want to learn how to work with publishers or do Kickstarter campaigns or how to hit the scene page or how to get wish list or how to do 2D art or how to do 3D art or how to make a game, how to code a game, how to use Unity, GDO,
Unreal, it's the ultimate blueprint uh for pretty much everything that I've I've needed to know. I can't tell you what exactly you need to know, but I can tell you what I've done and how to um I've been I've gone full-time on three separate occasions. Um, and what I mean by that is I've signed three publisher deals um, for each one of my games and those games later went on to release on Steam to very positive reviews. My third game, we'll see. It's called Twisted Tower. It's in beta testing right now. It's about to be released. So, click the link below, 50% off. You also get my 2D and 3D art program completely free. And also, hey, check out the these reviews here if you don't trust me. And by the way, you shouldn't trust me. You shouldn't just trust a YouTuber. Um, so instead read the reviews on the website and see what these students who went full-time, what they think about the program. Okay, let's go. I'm going to guess that Don't look at the poll, Thomas. It's right there. I'm not Don't look at
it. Uh, Parisomnia overwhelmingly 90%. Let's go. Let's give it We'll give it 80. No, no, no, no. Because floor above was pretty good. I'm going to go 80 is parasomnia. Floor above is 19. 18 and packite is two. 3 2 1 drum roll baby. Parisomnia is 71. Florabove is that what I said? No. Paxside got 9%. That's what it is. Yeah. Paxside. For some reason, we've got people who like seizures. Honestly, it wasn't a bad game. It's just it wasn't for me. It wasn't for me. Um, yes, Zeo. Yes. Uh, I thought about publishing for sure. Um, is the is the dev in the chat, by the
way, of any of these games? Is there a dev in the chat of any of these games? Yeah, that was a great Floor Above. Floor Above was a good title. I just think that the the the rules of the game didn't make much sense to me. And I wasn't really scared. I don't know why. Um I guess I don't really know if I get scared much anymore if I'm being honest. I thought I would be scared today, but I'm not really that scared. Okay. Well, I love you guys so much. Thanks for hanging out. That was so so so so so so so so so so so so so much fun. I love playing your games. And follow me on thomasbrushdev on Twitter.
