It is part of a broader effort to streamline operations and improve the company’s balance sheet.
GameSquare has officially divested its remaining 25.5% stake in FaZe Media, a subsidiary managed by FaZe Clan founder Richard “FaZe Banks” Bengston. This strategic move, effective April 1, 2025, is part of a broader effort to streamline operations and improve the company’s balance sheet as it moves toward profitability. While GameSquare retains full ownership of FaZe Clan Esports, FaZe Media will no longer be consolidated in its financial statements. Full details regarding the divestiture are scheduled for release during the company’s Q4 2024 financial reporting on April 16, 2025.
To bolster its financial position and support new growth initiatives, GameSquare also secured a $2 million letter of credit from the Jones Family, led by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. This facility, which carries a 10% annual interest rate, is intended to fund operational expenses and space reservations for a newly announced events division. This division will focus on developing talent-led, brand-owned, and immersive in-real-life experiences, leveraging partnerships with major gaming communities and U.S. festivals.
Beyond its events expansion, GameSquare is launching a collegiate esports initiative across North America. This program aims to drive community engagement through competitive tournaments, a proprietary software platform, and the utilization of the company’s internal content studios and marketing divisions. These developments reflect a pivot toward experiential marketing and grassroots community building as the company seeks to optimize its business model for the 2025 fiscal year.
