The expansion pack will be available across all platforms. It shifts the franchise's focus to political maneuvering and social hierarchy.
Electronic Arts has announced the upcoming release of The Sims 4: Royalty and Legacy, a new expansion pack scheduled for launch on February 12, 2026. The expansion shifts the franchise’s focus toward political maneuvering, social hierarchy, and dynastic drama, tasking players with navigating rival houses and bloodlines across the three neighborhoods of the fictional world of Ondarion.
A primary feature of this release is its collaborative development model, which marks a significant milestone for the franchise. Electronic Arts partnered with the Pan-African Gaming Group to integrate authentic, culturally informed perspectives into the game’s design. Specifically, Ghana-based Leti Arts and the Kenya- and Nigeria-based studio Usiku Games provided direct creative contributions. These studios influenced key development areas, including visual design, character expression, and world-building.
This project represents the first instance of the Sims franchise engaging in such a deep collaboration with African studios, establishing a new precedent for how major global publishers can integrate regional expertise into mainstream titles. By moving beyond the mechanics of previous historical-themed entries, the expansion aims to provide a more complex, narrative-driven experience centered on the intricacies of royal power dynamics.
