The CD PROJEKT Group’s financial performance for the first nine months of 2021 reflects a period of transition characterized by revenue growth alongside increased operational costs. Total revenues reached 615.1 million PLN, representing a year-over-year increase, though net profit declined to 121.4 million PLN. This contraction in profitability is primarily attributed to elevated administrative, selling, and development depreciation expenses associated with the ongoing support and optimization of Cyberpunk 2077, as well as the implementation of long-term incentive programs. Despite these pressures, the company maintained a robust liquidity position, holding approximately 1.18 billion PLN in financial reserves, including cash, deposits, and treasury bonds.
Operationally, the group focused on its dual-franchise strategy, leveraging the Cyberpunk and Witcher intellectual properties. North America remained the dominant market, contributing over 60% of sales, while digital distribution channels continued to drive the majority of revenue. The period was marked by strategic expansion, including the acquisitions of Digital Scapes and The Molasses Flood to bolster development capabilities. Furthermore, the company successfully launched the mobile title The Witcher: Monster Slayer and continued to refine its core products through significant updates.
The group’s financial structure remains stable, with total assets of 2.15 billion PLN and equity of 1.83 billion PLN as of September 30, 2021. While the company navigated challenges such as the delayed release of next-generation console versions of its flagship titles and ongoing legal proceedings related to Cyberpunk 2077, it maintained consistent accounting practices in accordance with IFRS. By prioritizing R&D investment and securing its intellectual property pipeline, the organization continues to manage its financial obligations and capital structure while positioning itself for future development cycles.
