Create free accounthey guys brandon fam here with a special episode sponsored by autodesk i had a great opportunity to be invited for an early preview of the new area site and mobile app that launched today this is exciting obviously for game developers such as yourself but what this redesign does it combines a lot of the industries like film and tv design visualization and everyone that uses essentially autodesk products into one huge big community the area site reimagined isn't just for artists anymore but provides a lot of use for content resources and tools to serve as a full-fledged area see what i did there for 3d professionals in film tv games and visualization what's cool is that the new site isn't limited to just desktop anymore as i mentioned before it's now available for the first time for both the ios and android devices around the world professionals across all creative
industries have more opportunities for collaborating with peers promoting the work and connecting directly with autodesk experts so there are three main areas of the site as you guys can check it out first is inspire one of my favorite to find inspiration in the artwork stories and career paths of artists in the fields of visual effects animation and visualization learn is a hub for learning new tools and workflows continuously growing and improving your 3d skills to master craft and lastly community is a space for all 3d students and professionals to connect exchange ideas share work and support one another so the new area site has been under development for a really long time and autodesk has been working closely with the community like us to build something that truly reflects our needs so you have an ability to create new profiles and share posts you like or created with with
everybody you can join groups based on interests industries and specialization for myself my love will always lie with the game development group with remote working as the norm area isn't just limited to desktop anymore and have expanded to mobile application and this is a big step because now it gives the flexibility to share work connect with peers and access content from anywhere the site itself has simplicity in mind and i was able to jump in here and navigate pretty easily without any prior instructions the thing that i'm looking forward to the most is connecting with other professionals being in game development for so long the game tools and the one of the biggest trends that are happening are a lot of industries are using the game tools and this is and will continue to be the biggest movement for the next decade real-time application and for that to move faster it's going to require a lot of collaboration with people in all these different sectors currently other cg
communities such as this there's more of an emphasis on the final art piece but area seems to focus on the artist in the process before the final product which is what i really like so this gives you a real good insight on the people that you're connecting with and not just through their work but you know who they are and their process of developing that work which i feel is 99 before the final product is shown so i'm gonna flash it one more time go check out the new area site area.autodesk.com a-r-e-a dot autodesk a-t-t-o-d-e-s-k dot com and go download the area app directly in the ios or android app store connect with me and i'll see you guys over there
The redesigned AREA platform serves as a centralized digital hub for 3D professionals across the film, television, game development, and visualization industries. By consolidating resources and networking capabilities into a single ecosystem, the platform aims to foster cross-industry collaboration and provide a unified space for students, artists, supervisors, and studio heads. The initiative marks a significant shift toward mobile accessibility, with the introduction of dedicated iOS and Android applications that allow users to engage with content and peers from any location.
The platform is structured around three primary pillars: inspiration, education, and community. The inspiration section highlights the career paths and portfolios of industry professionals, while the learning hub offers tools and workflows designed to help users refine their technical skills. The community component facilitates direct interaction, allowing users to join interest-based groups, share work, and connect with Autodesk experts. Unlike many existing CG communities that prioritize the final output, this platform emphasizes the creative process and the individual artist, providing deeper insight into the development stages that precede a finished project.
Developed over an extended period with direct input from the 3D community, the platform reflects a strategic response to the increasing convergence of creative sectors. As real-time applications and game engine tools become standard across various professional fields, the need for interdisciplinary collaboration has grown. By simplifying navigation and enabling global connectivity, the platform positions itself as a vital resource for the next decade of digital production, supporting the ongoing trend of shared workflows between game developers and other creative professionals.
