Create free accounthey welcome this is Jonas from Grizzly games and I'm super excited to announce Islanders the game's already completely done I kind of made the game without telling you anything about it oopsie but I'm absolutely willing to share everything now I made the game with two of my friends this was not a solo project I really want to stress that you can see the full team here also big shout out to the university and our professors that helped us out what kind of game is it it's a strategy SL puzzle game I think maybe neither strategy nor puzzle is entirely fitting in my opinion I think one of the best terms I found for it so far is probably something like an optimization game you build these really beautiful little settlements on beautiful islands and your job is basically to find the perfect place for every building and then you get points for how well you placed that building it's a very simple game system but one that offers a lot of complexity and
strategic depth once you get into it most of the people who played it so far loved it but we'll see it will probably be somewhere around 10 bucks five bucks something like that I can we not 100% sure yet but it will definitely be very affordable I personally love the game super fun and a lot of you always asks me uh what can we do to support the Channel please Jon us please start monetizing your channel and I mean if you want to support the channel then now is your chance you can go to the link in the description and wish list the game on Steam it's going to be out 4th of April hope you're looking forward to it and I'll answer a lot more of your questions in one of the upcoming videos at the moment we have no idea how this game will be received we have never really showed it to the public before this is the first time this is the official announcement all right thanks for watching and see you very soon

Islanders is a strategy-based optimization game centered on the construction of aesthetic settlements across procedurally generated islands. Developed by a three-person team originating from the HTW Berlin game design program, the project emphasizes a minimalist core mechanic where players earn points by strategically placing buildings within specific environmental contexts. While the gameplay system is designed for simplicity, it offers significant depth, blending elements of puzzle and strategy genres to create a relaxing user experience.
The development team intentionally maintained a low profile during the creation process, opting for a surprise announcement rather than a traditional long-term marketing campaign. The game is scheduled for a Steam release on April 4, with a target price point between five and ten dollars, positioning it as an affordable indie title. This launch represents the team’s first public exposure for the project, and they are currently gauging market reception to determine the game's long-term viability.
The project serves as both a commercial venture and an educational milestone for the developers. By leveraging the existing audience of their digital channel, the team is utilizing wishlists as a primary metric for pre-launch engagement and support. Moving forward, the developers intend to provide transparency regarding the development process, offering insights into the mechanics and design choices that shaped the final product. The initiative highlights the potential for small, academic-born teams to transition successfully into the commercial indie market through focused, high-quality design and direct community engagement.
