The CD PROJEKT Capital Group maintained a robust financial position throughout the first nine months of 2016, characterized by a net profit of 171.2 million PLN and total equity rising to 691.8 million PLN by the end of the third quarter. While net profit experienced a decline compared to the same period in 2015, the company sustained high profitability with a 36% net margin for the quarter. This performance was primarily underpinned by the enduring commercial success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its associated expansions, alongside the strategic expansion of the GOG.com digital distribution platform.
Operational focus during this period centered on balancing current revenue generation with significant capital allocation toward future growth. Substantial expenditures were directed toward the ongoing development of Cyberpunk 2077 and the rollout of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. To better reflect the long-term nature of these investments, the company updated its accounting policies to reclassify videogame development expenses from inventories to fixed assets. These adjustments, alongside a reorganization of reporting segments into CD PROJEKT RED, GOG.com, and Other activities, were implemented to improve financial transparency and comparability without impacting overall equity.
The group’s liquidity remained strong, with 552.2 million PLN in cash and cash equivalents as of September 30, 2016. Governance and corporate structure were further refined through the implementation of a 2016–2021 employee incentive program and the streamlining of subsidiary holdings. Despite navigating complex tax environments and ongoing legal proceedings, the company remains positioned as a stable going concern, with future performance contingent upon the successful scaling of the GWENT beta, seasonal sales cycles, and the continued advancement of its primary development pipeline.
