Raport Bieżący nr 65/2017: Zawiązanie Spółki Sonka S.A.
The establishment of Sonka S.A., a joint-stock company headquartered in Warsaw, marks a strategic expansion within the Polish gaming sector as of August 31, 2017. The new entity was formed through a partnership between PlayWay S.A., QubicGames S.A., and individual investors Rafał Sankowski and Bartosz Moniewski. This corporate formation is structured with an initial share capital of 300,000 PLN, divided into 3,000,000 ordinary bearer shares with a nominal value of 0.1 PLN each.
PlayWay S.A. holds the primary stake in the venture, having acquired 1,530,000 shares for a cash contribution of 153,000 PLN. QubicGames S.A. follows with 870,000 shares valued at 87,000 PLN, while the two individual shareholders each hold 300,000 shares representing 30,000 PLN investments. This ownership structure positions Sonka S.A. as a specialized subsidiary within the broader PlayWay ecosystem, leveraging the technical and publishing expertise of its institutional backers.
The core operational focus of Sonka S.A. is the development and porting of video games, with a specific emphasis on the Nintendo Switch platform. The company is tasked with creating console editions of established titles from the PlayWay portfolio, including 911 Operator, The Way, Car Mechanic Flipper, and Air Race Speed. Beyond porting existing intellectual property, the entity is also mandated to develop its own original titles for the Nintendo Switch, reflecting a targeted geographic and hardware strategy aimed at the growing handheld console market.
