Stillfront
Stillfront Group achieved substantial financial growth during the 2016 fiscal year, characterized by a 71 percent increase in net revenues to 94.8 MSEK and a 117 percent rise in EBITDA to 34.3 MSEK. This performance was bolstered by a strategic expansion of the company’s portfolio, most notably through the acquisition of a majority stake in Simutronics Corp. and the full acquisition of Babil Games LLC. These investments, totaling 178.4 million SEK, significantly expanded the group’s intangible assets and goodwill, positioning the company for long-term growth through its PLEX strategy, which aims to diversify risk and enhance operational stability across its gaming segments.
The transition to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) served as a pivotal development for the group, fundamentally altering its financial presentation. By adopting IFRS, the company shifted its accounting practices to include the capitalization of product development expenses, which are now amortized over two to five years, and replaced goodwill amortization with annual impairment testing. These adjustments, alongside changes to revenue recognition for online games and contracting services, resulted in a net profit of 21.0 MSEK for 2016, a marked improvement over the 0.5 MSEK reported in the previous year.
While the overall financial trajectory remains positive, the fourth quarter experienced margin pressure stemming from acquisition-related costs and the integration of business models with lower initial margins. Despite these short-term headwinds, the company’s commitment to standardized reporting under IFRS and RFR 2 ensures greater transparency and alignment with international financial requirements. By focusing on consistent valuation methods for assets and liabilities, the group has established a robust framework to support its ongoing expansion within the global digital gaming market.
