The financial performance of NetEase for the 2023 fiscal year demonstrates sustained growth within its gaming division, which serves as the primary driver of the company’s overall revenue. The gaming segment generated $11.5 billion in net revenue, representing a 9.4% increase compared to the previous year. This growth contributed to a broader corporate net revenue of $14.6 billion, marking a 6.7% year-over-year rise.
A significant shift in the company’s revenue composition occurred throughout the year, with mobile gaming increasing its share of the segment from 67% to 75.2%. This transition was largely fueled by the strong performance of key titles such as Eggy Party and Justice Mobile. Eggy Party, in particular, achieved notable scale, reaching 500 million registered players and exceeding 40 million daily active users during the Lunar New Year period. Additionally, the Justice franchise surpassed 100 million active users, while new releases like Racing Master demonstrated strong market penetration in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
The company’s strategy remains anchored in its traditional strengths in the massively multiplayer online (MMO) genre while simultaneously diversifying into new product categories. By leveraging both established franchises and successful new mobile titles, the gaming division accounted for 92.9% of the company’s total gaming-related net revenue. These results underscore a successful transition toward a mobile-first strategy, supported by high-engagement titles that continue to expand the company’s user base across diverse gaming segments.
