CD Projekt
The CD PROJEKT Capital Group’s financial performance for the first half of 2014 reflects a period of significant transition characterized by increased revenue alongside rising operational costs. Net sales reached 74.6 million PLN, up from 63.1 million PLN in the same period of 2013, driven primarily by the GOG.com digital distribution platform and domestic publishing activities. However, net profit experienced a decline, falling to 4.62 million PLN from 7.71 million PLN in the prior year. This contraction is attributed to heavy investment in the development of major titles, specifically The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077, as well as higher production expenses.
The company maintains a stable asset base, with total assets rising to 262.9 million PLN by mid-2014. Financial management during this period focused on optimizing capital structures, including the sale of real estate in Nowy Sącz and the restructuring of credit agreements with mBank S.A. to improve liquidity. The Group continues to operate across four core segments: internal game development, domestic distribution, and global digital distribution via GOG.com, which expanded its scope to include DRM-free video content. Strategic priorities remain centered on the February 2015 release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the ongoing development of the GOG Galaxy client.
Reporting adheres to International Financial Reporting Standards, with management confirming the company’s status as a going concern despite ongoing legal proceedings, including claims against the State Treasury and disputes regarding unfair competition. While the company faces conditional liabilities related to licensing and credit agreements, it continues to pursue international growth through new subsidiary registrations. The financial results underscore a business model highly sensitive to release cycles, where current profitability is intentionally subordinated to long-term investment in high-profile intellectual property and platform infrastructure.
