all right um re are here um can everybody hear me okay this is the live stream component of the master class my courses uh Black Friday sale um please uh give me a thumbs up if you can hear me and say hey I hear you Chris because I don't want to just be talking to avoid um it's always hard with steam there's always like some extra thing I have to push so I just want to make sure anytime that I'm doing like some YouTube live stream I just want to make sure that I can actually be heard so if you can hear me loud and clear yes that's awesome okay all right let's get started all right so like I said this is to celebrate my Black Friday sale it ends today it's Cyber Monday apparently so the end midnight uh my time sales ending you
can't get this on sale anymore um I do this twice a year June and now Black Friday time period uh end of November this is when I do it this is my sales if you don't get it now you got to wait a while okay so this is the time to do it um I put everything on sale you go to how Market a game.com courses just go to hard to Market a game and then you click up here see where it says Black Friday sale click that everything's on sale um okay let's get started I put out a call to the community to get some steam pages to review and you came through I got over 200 I can't do them all on this live stream I'm sorry so what I did was I picked the best examples because I see a lot of the same problems over and over again and so I thought I would pick the ones that represent those problems so even if I don't get your page I know I I don't do one-on-one Consulting for these things I I kind of stopped doing them so please don't ask me hey you didn't get to my page today I I'm sorry I can't do them all I'm not I'm not doing a service
so please don't email and say can I hire you to do the review I can't here's what I do I have a Discord how tomarket game.com Discord we have a feedback Channel posted there they're just as smart as me they know all this stuff and also kind of look at what I'm recommending and see if your page applies to some of these things I recommend okay now here's what I'm going to be when I look at a page I do a couple things this is what I look at one does this game look like it is an asset Flip or not and I'm not saying if your game looks like it it's just steam Shoppers are very tone uh tuned in they they're like looking to make sure something is not an asset Flip lowquality Game they don't want that so we have to do as developers is make our page look good and really like vibrant so it doesn't appear to be an asset flip which will turn people away okay that's one two you got to nail the genre you got to really say this is my type of game I am this genre definitely this genre and then three thing number three thing I look for is can I understand how to play the game do I see the gameplay l
do I understand it it goes very close with that other one that I was talking about with the what is the genre but I got to see what you do in the game you got to you got to see it and I find this is a big problem so a lot of people if I don't get to review your steam page which odds are I'm not going to review your steam page today because I have 200 review I probably can only get it maybe 10 in today I'll try my best to get as many as here's the biggest problem I always see that devs need to do show it to somebody else who doesn't know anything about your game not your parents not your friends somebody you don't know and that's a great the feedback channel in Discord say what do you think you do in this game because I find a lot of devs are so into their game and they think about this game constantly that they forget when they post their stuff that they're like I don't know what this game is they don't realize that they didn't show any Gameplay at all and they're like I have no idea what this game is some some Shopper is going to say that that's why you need to get feedback from somebody else who knows nothing about you nothing about your game okay so if I even if I don't get to your steam page do that just just do that
okay so let's do this all right let's get started I'm just going to go right into it um again um I I'm sorry if I don't get to your steam page I I had to look at a lot of steam Pages here so uh yeah let me let me pull these up um the first one let me look at my notes here just because I I take little notes so that I make sure that I get the good stuff um I kind of somewhat of a random order in which I picked these Pages uh so let me pull this one up um let's take a look here okay the first one we're going to do short snow all right short snow um I love I just like the name of that short snow it's not not the tall snow just short snow all right let's go through the steam page I'm just going to roll slowly down the steam beage if you're a vegetarian you probably don't want to look at this game it's kind of a kind of a nonvegetarian friendly game I'll just put that up there right now um okay very cool okay there's your steam page
all right let's take a look at it so I'm going to do the short description first because that's always a good context for what's going on here a realistic open world survival experience after a Haring plane crash you find yourself stranded in the wilderness battling freezing temperatures and hunger you face an unknown virus that slowly paralyzes muscles leaving its victims motionless at the mercy of the unforgiving cold all right I'm just going to I'm just going to put my cards right on the table I love this steam page this is a good steam page let's start with a nice positive one so that you all kind of know like hey why does Chris Hate Everything I don't hate everything I don't I'm not super picky this is a great steam page okay I'm just going to I'm just going to lay it out there right away and I'll tell you why I think it's great one I know the genre it is open world survival craft okay and there's a couple ways that I knew just looking at the steam page first one it's like the second sentence there see it it says open world survival craft okay straight up that's what it is it's not hidden it's not not buried under a bunch of
lore I mean there's a little bit of lore but it's mostly setup it's like plane crash virus survival like boom right there so I know the genre right up and the other way I know the genre it's got an axe in the in this uh capsule okay that is a great way to say it and it also kind of looks like the game the forest there's a game called the forest which is very similar to this again you're not trying to be the most unique game that's so unique there's nothing similar to it that is a bad sign G yeah who would want a game that's totally different from anything else I want a game that is very similar to another game that I loved but I'm tired of it so I want another game that's just enough like it that's the way theme shoers think they don't want 100% new and this game is like this is a survival game and that acts does it and then you also see classic classic open world survival craft stuff you see tools you see weapons uh attack I'll talk about that in a second you see Hands you see the tools like an axe just an axe holding an axe
like that you're like open world Survivalcraft I know it so instantly I knew the genre okay the next thing is so what there's I the next question I do is I always say well what's the biggest open world Survivalcraft it's basically Minecraft is the one that started all out but I'm like well how if I read your short description and I'm like well I could just swap out the name of your game and have Minecraft we're going to try this with a couple games and it's going to fail this test I could just swap the name of your game out for the number one game in your genre and I wouldn't understand this game shows the unique feature which is realistic okay um right there I get it okay you're trying to be the most realistic uh open world Survivalcraft and the other thing that I think is unique selling prob which you don't quite mention but I kind of get it by on the realistic is this one is brutal like realistic in this case means like oh my God like there's let me show you a screenshot again if you are sque ish I
want just just just look away for a little while okay this game I mean my goodness like let's see here look at these screenshots wait wait let me find it let me find it let me find it let me find it um hang on there's a lot of screenshots here let me let me just find it let me just find it sorry again if you're squeamish or you photos sensor this one right here the guy is just like oh God and he's got bloody hands it's like ah okay so this right here is like open world survival craft but it's serious folks it is Lord of the Flies on yourself you know you are amputating your own arm type of stuff like okay I got the Vibes and then you have other stuff like uh wolves coming this one right here uh fight back yeah you don't need to prompt me for that I'm fighting back um like this brutal this is just like okay I can see what Lane you're trying to take which is open world survival craft but you're like the most brutal most bloody most like like iny face Survival Craft You Got It You Nail na it that's this is this is a game that
knows what it's about and that confidence comes through okay and so the reason I did this one first was I want you all to know like this is what I'm thinking okay when I look at the steam page do I know what this game is about what am I doing why is this different from the other game that it's very similar to that's it okay and then um other stuff like little tiny things like okay tags I here's a mistake a lot of people do is they sit down they're like okay I'm going to do the tagging Wizard and they just go through and they think well what's in our game oh we've got cooking in our game okay let's add the cooking tag oh what's in we've got this like nightmare mode okay nightmares or something you know they just kind of like randomly think through their game that's not what you do not what you do when you were doing your steam page you're tagging what you want to do is this you go and you find the games that are most similar to and if I scroll down because you want this to happen you see down here
here all these games are open world survival crafts what you want to do is you want to go to the number one genre number one games in your genas copy their tags just copy all the tags that are honestly about your game because you want your more like this to look like this because this is a sign that the games that are similar to you are going to be recommending your game because that's a way Steam Works they just look at players and they assess oh they like this game we're going to recommend them a game very similar so you want to show sim if I look at some of these games and I look down here and they're like random games and they're like AAA games and they're random AAA games that's just seem going I don't know what it is uh just put the most popular games in there they'll sell okay if it's random top sellers that means your tags are not clear they're not consistent this looks very consistent you can try it you can always test it you can always see if it does better um the other thing people always ask me is like I tried the tags and I copied the games that my target game and the showed up but it didn't show up here okay what
I that the reason that is is there's two layers to the steam algorithm with this widget one is how similar your tags are to another game that's just a simple one toone you know like mathematical grid problem you know like mapping what they do is they just map two games and they see how similar they are okay just a simple grid um that's in the tagging wizard when you go through the tagging wizard that's what it's doing but then after that it applies a second pass to the algorithm and it looks at sales so a lot of these games so you'll go through the tagging Wizard and you'll see all these games that are like perfectly match you're like those are my games those are my games that's exactly it we're good and then you push save and then you go to steam page and it looks weird this is an application of all these other features you know like oh how well did it sell is this maybe this game's got an update or it's doing very well in a sale so steam applies sales metrics to this and so you get some games so that's why it's different and that there's nothing you can fix you just you just roll with it
but basically you can kind of see all these games open world survival crafts that's it you did good you did good so with that positive message let's look at some more games not that these are bad it's just like I want to show you all this is kind of how I'm assessing these games okay and these games are dead it oh the other thing that I really like about this and and I'll I'll compare this to these other games is I can see the mechanics okay this is the other thing that I'm constantly assessing it's like okay this to me food I got to do my own food I got to I got to Har my food I got to kill some things I'm going to do some killing see you can see the gun and and the result of my gun you see it's real clear the screenshots tell you what's what's going on in this game here is the enemy this is what's bad this is the this is what I'm up against Natural man versus nature type of stuff some of these games I'm going to show you I'm like what am I what am I up against what are the stakes the stakes here you're going to get your face bitten off by a wolf this is the stakes okay you have to
show the stakes and you got to show how you're going to fix it like here are the stakes here's how I'm going to fix it I'm going to shoot it so you can kind of see like oh okay and then oh it's like okay well I use both arms here's some tools and I've got to watch out and you're seeing all this stuff notice how different these screenshots work and then these are some more Stakes so you're seeing the full gameplay Loop you're like you got to collect stuff you got to build some tools you got to make some food you've got to avoid wolves and then you can shoot the wolves and it's a circle that's what you're trying to do you're trying to show the gameplay Loop okay and I want all of you even if I don't review your steam page to go back and look at your steam page to see if it does this okay so with that let's go to the next steam page okay this is uh the night watch okay and I'm going to do a slow scroll down to show you what's going on okay
okay that's the bottom of the steam page all right so um I'll give you some context it says hey um um I just released this and my sales aren't great solo Dev and I still have some problems okay so the game's for sale now I'll give you one one other thing about these steam pages that I review even if you have a perfect steam page you still got to do marketing you still got to go out to streamers you still got to have your demo you have to do all this stuff fixing your steam page just primes you to be able to do this stuff because a lot of times you'll F you'll have your steam page and if your steam page doesn't look great and you send it to a streamer to play the streamer is going to be like this doesn't look great and throw it over their shoulder because they have 100 games coming into their lap every day so sometimes just fixing your steam page doesn't do anything so even if you make the perfect steam page you then have to
take that steam page and then you go and then if you fix it and you send to a stream then stream is like aha this looks good I see what's going on here now I will cover it so see a good steam page doesn't fix things but it enables your marketing to do better going forward okay and once you have a really good steam page it's also just down to the game okay it's like if the game there's no perfect steam page that causes perfect sales it's like your game has to be the right market for the right place and all that kind of stuff so I just I just want to set expectations so you know one of the comments for this like well SES aren't so great how do I fix this even though I make this page perfect we still there's still other reasons okay so here's the night watch I'm going to scroll down down to the bottom oh I already did this what am I doing okay let's get this uh what am I doing all right so um let's read the short description that's what I want to do fight your way through hordes of monsters in this challenging 2D Rog
Lake explore the dark rooms of the Wizard's Tower unearth the m and make the most out of the upgrades talent trees and items available to push through the attack okay now remember with uh short snow I said one of the test I apply is I look at your short description and I say what is different from this game and could I just swap in the number one game from your genre and still make S and it still be the same description right this game kind of fails that test okay okay so it's it's a it's a action Rog likee in the number one game the one that invented it the master of maul vampire survivors for the most part I could just swap out vampire survivors and this short description would describe vampire survivors the one exception is um explore the dark rooms of the Wizard Tower and it's like well I don't know vampire survivors has a wizard tower I don't really know but it's not like people like vampire survivors but I like vampire survivors but there's no Wizard Tower and this one's like well the unique
selling proposition is there's a Wizard's Tower it's like I that just doesn't that's not unique selling proposition so now I got to know like what is unique like why can't I mean this is vampire survivors is awesome why is this game better than vampire survivors there needs to be something in here and so the short description should be like vampire survivors like or action Rogue likee is the current term or bullet Heaven any one of those establish the genre right up front and say by but and what is the butt what is different here why is this not vampire Sur virus there's a couple ways you can do it one you say like hey vampire survivors but we fix the problem that everybody hates about vampire survivors whatever that is or what is what is different about your game like you got to know it okay and if you don't know what it is I'm sorry that's the you got to have a game that's different from the main one that's that's just what it is and it can't be like skill tree because vampire survivalist has a skill tree and all this kind of stuff so what is different you've got to put it in the short description okay now the other thing is
if I go through those screenshots because that's the next thing people do okay look at the screenshots okay okay okay okay okay okay a couple screenshot problems that I see and this goes back to I the game itself okay remember how I said people are like laser focused on asset flips they're like is this game an asset flip here's one of the I don't know where you got the art but one of the things people look for is Art Direction consistent see okay that's one of the telltale signs of whether a bunch of assets were pulled off the asset store and it's okay to get asset store out but it's got to be carefully done um because if you look there's just such a mix so you've got this skull which is a kind of low SI lowf five pixel art then you have this which is a very high five pixel art and it's very detailed look at how many colors are in this thing but this guy's got a low color palette and then if you go over here when I saw this now this is a very low resolution uh pixel art you've mixed your pixel
arts there's so many levels of pixel art I see in this that's a dead giveaway that it's like well this is an asset store art and people will just negate you instantly without even they're like well there's probably nothing here and they those'll negate I'm not saying that they should I don't know if that's right but that's a clear sign that the game doesn't have an art Direction and if it's a solo Dev they're like well this is probably somebody's first game it's just this stuff matters folks it really really matters okay okay and so um at this point it's like well what do you do do you you buy new art like hire an artist and that's why you have to hire an artist to be consistent and this is why I also folks in general I don't think AI art for anytime in the future is going to do well because it is so hard to be consistent like you need to generate so much art for a game and if there's anything I've tried AI just because I'm like oh doing some blog post and stuff it is so hard even within the same picture like I want a picture of a tree with a white trunk and green leaves that aren't too thick
and I'll fix like I'll get the trunk the right color but I can't get the tree leaves the right color and it's like I'm constantly like trying to pin it down and I pin down one thing and then the AI will change another thing when I try and regenerate the image and I'm like this is so frustrating I this why I don't think AI art is going to take over games anytime soon is I'm not saying this is AI art don't don't I'm not saying that I just mean that like the the thing that about games is they have to have a consistent art Vision this is called Art direction throughout the entire game and if you don't it it's obvious and it's really quick and it it it kills games okay and so art is very very very very important folks and I know it's hard if especially if you're a solo Dev or just you don't have a lot of money I don't have any many options for you but a couple options are you partner with an artist and you just rev split you team up for one project um you you hire a pixel artist and you do it for you know you can get some asset packs and then
hire the artist that does the asset packs and sometimes artists are surprisingly cheap but again you got to go professional in this industry you just have to it just you just it takes money to make money unfortunately in this industry it's hard on the other sign like again see this it's again this is a different art style very highres pixel art the other thing that's kind of a worrying sign is you see how this background with the the blue brick wall it's in this screenshot then it's again in this screenshot and then it's again in this screenshot anytime you see a background repeated multiple times in screenshots you're like uh oh and they're going to say the the Shoppers are going to say asset flip same background too many times they probably just got that one asset and they're just reusing it everywhere and it's hard I know it really is and so you just kind of I just see like a lot of this stuff and I'm like these are the warning signs that I've you've got to like distinguish and so it's these things that are hurting your sales um now it's first game you've been learning
some important lessons let's roll it towards the second one the other thing that folks this is another thing with um art just know your strengths if your strengths are not art don't go into asset heavy genres um now vampire Survivor likes is actually a pretty low asset it doesn't require as many assets as RPGs Metroid vanas Platformers those games are very asset heavy because you have to make a lot of Art assets they have to be in a lot of context and stuff so if you do not have an artist team you're not an artist and you're going to have to pay for art or make it yourself don't go into asset heavy art styles genres that require a lot of assets just know your strengths and play into your strengths which maybe if you're not good at Art you're good at coding and I'm going to go into the next game uh which I thought was a pretty good representation of something like this um this is a very interesting game I want to hear more stories like I get a little context from what people say this game is called final
Outpost okay I'm going to scroll down this game apparently did well on mobile um the story is this game has a 100 or a million downloads on mobile now it's a free game on mobile they're partying it over to steam and they're trying to be not an asset you know like Hey how do we do this um now this is a colony simp let me let me read the short final Outpost is a survival strategy base Builder you lead the last survivals of an apocalypse assign roles craft tools manage resources carefully construct buildings level up your citizens and fortify your town against hordes of zombies how many days can you survive okay I'm feeling Colony Sim Vibes again this is a very Colony Sims are a very specific genre versus base Builder um I I don't know your game so I would try both okay um I'm interested like if it is a colony
sim a pure Colony Sim I would hang out more into that I would say more of that in this genre um this is a genre this base Builder genre is one and this is why I'm transitioning to this one is one of those genres where art skills do not necessarily have to be as important okay no just just I'm not saying this game is ugly but I'm not what I'm saying is you can get away with more than you can in some of those other genres like um see these are your tags are good because I'm seeing a lot of I'm seeing some Colony Sim down here like um nordland and um let's see what is it I saw another one in here that was really good Rim world that's the one I was thinking of um like I'm seeing Rim World in here this is a classic Colony Sim now this game is very very very rimal is very very very deep and the art isn't amazing there's another one called um
it's released by hooded horse I think it's called Clan something it's another Colony Sim but the art style is very simplistic there's just a lot of art that you have to make but it's very simplistic if you are not as good at Art these kind of colony Sim base Builders these are the genre you should go for um and I'm just giving this just as context okay because I think final Outpost this looks like the type of game that could do very well on Steam but your art style is not I'm not saying it's bad but it's not as as intense of an art style that you have to do for like a Metroid Vania or a platformer or a puzzle game all these things that require a ton of beautiful art assets um the art is very primitive primitive in and I mean that in a really good way and see they are mixing pixel art styles like background versus this truck but you can kind of get away with it in these Colony Sims because they have so much this is why I'm I'm talking to people who maybe don't have the art background or they have the mix Arts I think this game could actually do well assum ass uming the simulation is deep enough now so far in the screenshots
that I'm seeing these do not look like mobile screenshots and so I'm I'm kind of feeling confident for you because one thing you have to watch out and I know I made a mobile game that I tried to P over a steam and they sniffed it out so fast the players were like nope this is a ported mobile game like I sized everything up I added customizable controls controllers gam pads all this stuff they will sniff it out if it's mobile so what I would recommend for you is play test this isn't just a steam page like just looking at your steam page I don't see your question was ow I'm a little paranoid about becoming mobile like people think on mobile I actually think your game feels more like a steam native than a mobile like if you were to go the other way if you were like to make this game as it is and you were saying we're thinking of Port into Mobile I'd be like it's not going to do well in Mobile Mo this doesn't look like a mobile game um so I feel like you're pretty confident there the the reason I think that I feel good about your game not being a mobile thing is look at this right up here UI tells so much all these resources here look very steamy these
are very steam Centric resources there's ton I don't see anything like a premium currency because that's usually what tips players off they're like oh this is a ported mobile game if you had like a premium currency that you have to buy with upgrades or watching ads that's dead giveaway dead giveaway the other thing is your UI is very complex you see have all these tabs and all this stuff usually mobile games have a very simplistic very vertical linear UI that's a dead giveaway too and the the UI is typically simplified like all this other stuff is taken out your your UI looks very crunchy which I think is a good sign like that that looks crunchy that looks this looks like PC native so I think you're doing pretty good on that side um I would take a look at um um your reviews you don't have a demo that what I was looking for is do you have a demo you don't have a demo I would make sure you I would play test with Colony Sim fans people who play a lot of colony Sims to see if your game is Colony Sim and I would brand it more
towards Colony Sim if it is Colony Sims typically involve a lot of like you know each person in the camp and they they have like a personality to them that's more of colony Sim um I don't know maybe yours is more tower defense base building where it's like the people are just like Canon fodder and you don't care about them I think that's the big difference between those genres but there's a hundred different genre distinctions between like Colony Sims versus BAS Builders I would get some play test feedback from fans of both genres to make sure you're not accidentally stepping in one of those things cuz that's one thing I think I could see happening with your game if you really still on Steam is I don't think those Fishers matter as much on mobile but I think they matter much more on Steam so play test get some feedback that's not going to come out so much in the in the steam page what I would do is depending on what happens when the people who play test your game take the feedback and the words that they say and add it to the steam page okay that's
what I think is going on here okay um but I think it's I think what you're doing is very good you've got updates right here I think you're um I'm a little little little tiny bit concerned about the tags just because um some of these games like you do have Dwarf Fortress but it's at the end I feel like Prison Architect see again Prison Architect I love this game but it's very simplistic Graphics I'm feeling like these genres might be closer I I just feel a slight tension between Base building and Colony Sim and I feel like you're a colony Sim but you don't know it I would play up on your steam page The Colony Sim aspects if it turns out you are a colony Sim but don't listen to me listen to your play testers and hire people who love these who love Prison Architect Dwarf Fortress have them play test your game and if they're like oh this is not a colony Sim this is not a colony Sim don't ever ever use the word colony Sim then if that's what the players are saying then you go we are not a colony Sim at all and you
say a bunch of things that tell people we are not a colony Sim okay but that's up to you to figure out okay um speaking of um of games and getting feedback from the community this goes into my next one this is my next game oh um which we'll get into is Lauren's lure um I'm going to do a quick break here just uh from a word from our sponsors uh which is me I'm the sponsor it's this is a oneman operation folks um I'm running my sale everything is on Deep Discount real quick um again these prices are going to go up tomorrow this this is the end of the sale tomorrow prices go up so if you like my stuff if you are looking to Market a game you don't know how to Market a game you're like what do I do Chris I recommend number one seller the one everybody loves bestseller wish list invisibility masterclass it tells you every single way that I know to get a wish list okay I tell you the stuff that's bad
that doesn't work that's crap don't do it I tell you that I also tell you what actually does work I give you step by step with real examples from Real World Games I also explain how the steam algorithm works all this stuff so check it out this is what I do um this is how I make my living this is this is this is the thing that put me on the map okay so if you want the best course on the internet on how to Market a game here it is folks best one I'm not for this this I'm not going to be modest this is the best course you can possibly get there's nothing nobody else goes deeper in my research nobody has talked to more devs than me putting this together so that's it okay but I've got all my other things um oh if you do like the steam master class or you do you like the steam page reviews you're like oh Chris I wish I could watch hours of just you looking at steam Pages game marketing ideas is another fun one super cheap this one is the cheapest thing this is your best value it's not the best seller but it is the best value I have a whole thing where I just reviewed steam Pages for like like 10 months I think for almost a full year I reviewed steam pages so you
can get my archives of uh steam page reviews that's kind of old because some of them are like from many years ago but you can still learn a lot of things from these so check this out you can watch those too all right back to our regularly sponsored things I am going to talk about whoops whoops whoops uh Lauren's lur so let's do this low scroll and that is that okay now the context because I always like to hear the context that people have they said we did pretty well with our game just it's out for sale look at this, 1500 reviews and if you know anything anything above a th I'm like come on I will write an article about any game that earns over a thousand reviews so expect an emo from me this looks pretty cool um I want to find out because it's kind of here's the deal it's kind of Boomer shooter esque because it's got that Loi Quake style Graphics firsters shooter and you did
well good job congrats um and you're saying hey what do we do with our steam page now that we've released um so let's take a look at I mean you've already done the hard part which is get a good selling game you figure out the genre so here's what my advice is for games that have already sold that are doing pretty well how do we how do we get more out of it okay so let's look at this steam page here okay it says an Android is Led through a vast structure by a glitch in his visual system Lawrence lur is an atmospheric narrative firstperson platformer with novel climb anything mechanic and modernized retro 3D Graphics okay and then you go through and you do have some cool looking Graphics here um here's the benefit and a lot of cool graphics um here is the cool thing that I think you can do once you have a selling game that is good the best thing you can do this what this
is an old copywriters trick you just talk to your customers and then you just literally steal what they say okay here's the thing the worst thing about school is they tell you you can't cheat and so everybody gets this like I cannot cheat I cannot look at anything I mean don't cheat people stay in school don't cheat but that lesson that you learned like don't copy off tests has gone so far that people are like afraid to like look at anything that's the same so let's look at some of the reviews positive reviews CU you have a good game let's look at some of these positive reviews here and see if we can steal anything CU here's the deal I'm not crazy about your short description I think the short description I mean it's you couldn't swap in Quake but here's the thing I don't and I I'm not a big fan of lore because nobody cares about lore in video games for the most part for the most part and I I'll prove it to you when we look at the reviews so I don't like this thing like in Android is Led through a vast structure by a glitch
in his visual system like I don't need to know about the glitch in the visual system I don't need to know that this person's an Android I don't think because here watch this let's let's go down to these reviews and I'm going to look for the word Android Android I'm taking a chance because I don't really know look okay one two let's see where's the other Android I'm trying to find the other location of the word Android Android I I can't quite find it I'm kind of doing this live nobody mentions the Android the fans aren't mentioning Android here okay they don't care about the Android and here's my thing I don't think most players care about the lore in video games especially for a game that's all uh like a quake game where it's all about the feels and like getting the timing right and like quick chain reactions that's what they care about or the general Vibes like my theory games are more about atmosphere setting and Vibes not about story if you
want a story don't read a book I'm sorry about visual novel fans yes maybe visual novel fans but for the most part I think video games are sold on Vibes and setting and just kind of like General thing lore maybe but that's why you buy a lore Bible later after the fact of the game for the most part I think games are sold on Vibes and so if you look if we search the word Vibe we get a lot more um this incredible impeccable Vibe look at this fans are talking about Vibes Immaculate inscrutable Vibes so far people have described The Vibes inscrutable Immaculate and in impecable it's all about the vibes your game is not about about being an Android or anything it's just Vibes Vibes Vibes Vibes and so grab some of these words that I see like visual stunning atmosphere see everybody comp everybody I'm I don't I I don't hate L it's the fans that hate it that nobody's
mentioning oh the I love the story about being an Android no they're like oh man it's just Vibes oh it's setting it's setting it's atmosphere that is video games Man video games are about Vibes um so look everybody's talking about the atmosphere let's look up the atmosphere at mostos how many times 12 if you search the word atmosphere 12 it shows up 12 I didn't you can't see in the quote but just search contr F atmosphere everybody is saying look at all the look at all the thing everybody's talking about atmosphere atmosphere at atmosphere um that's your game and so um I would cut out this whole sentence about an Android cuz nobody [ __ ] cares about that you do say atmospheric narrative first person cut out the narrative stuff nobody's bringing up the narrative they're all talking about The Vibes so what that to me is say maybe even use some of those words like Immaculate Vibes Vibes Vib Vibes you don't have to mention the Android to say like crunchy or something like that just word salad kind of like weird vibe stuff and your trailer is pretty good I would lay into the
Vibes but I would start doing some quotes you might even now that you're released I would do a trailer that just has quotes like it's showing this stuff but it shows some of those quotes from the reviews like Immaculate Vibes Vib Supreme all this kind of stuff like the trailer I turned off the sound but the soundscape is good I would do a little bit more Vibes um and the other thing people were really talking about was the acrobatics and the fact that you can just uh Heck on anything and you said a novel climb anything mechanic people were using better words to describe it like I saw that and I was like I don't get it but then when I read the views they did a great job describing the wall climbing mechanic so again just copy the words from them I think your fans are doing a better job at describing your game than this is so just steal words from them try that stuff and again play Up The Vibes play down the lore okay that's my general take on this um and see if you can play some more this is pretty cool I think you really got to show that mechanic cuz again this is your unique selling proposition is this
like the wall climbing mechanic the wall jumping stuff I still don't get it as much I think you could play it up a little bit more and you could use the words that your users are using because I'm not getting that feeling from the stuff I'm reading um there's too much text and your game is all about Vibes look see your game is all about Vibes and you only H and you're you're showing mostly text Vibes don't come through text Vibes come through this and so I think you need more gifts that are doing less like this gift is too much there's too much Motion in there there got to be more Vibes and it's got to have more of that wall climbing stuff I don't fully understand it but your fans loved it so what I would do here's what I would do for you if I were you go through every review that you have you have a thousand of them throw them into like some AI like chadt and say like put in a giant CSV there's Services out there just search um steam review export there's sites that'll do it for you they'll just d all the reviews into a CSV then upload the CSV into a AI into one chat gbt or
something and say can you count how many give me a word cloud or something what are the most frequently word used words that are not common words I bet the AI can do that and then that all those little sentences that the AI generates based off of what they said grab those put them all over your description and then write around those words because I bet they're going to be coming out like it's going to pull a lot of the word Vibes atmosphere and impressive all that kind of stuff then write your own text don't use the AI to write your own text write around those words that the AI pulls out it says this these phrases are used a lot in reviews then you write that and then you design the page off of that somebody says like uh brutal wall climbing find a gift that is brutal wall climbing and then do brutal wall climbing up here with a gift and then write a short description of that text that's what I think you're in a very good position where um you've got you
you did the hard part which is make an awesome game that people love now you've got the easy part which is just regurgitating what the fans already said to the other thing so that's what my recommendation is okay um everything else is great everything's just so good um might try some of these screen you might try uh messing with the tags a little bit maybe try some Boomer Shooters maybe uh see what other games um maybe even can try the say what other games are referenced say in that giant CSV that you export ask the AI hey what video games were referenced by other people and then play those other games and try and Target some of them you're probably there's probably like three or four games that keep getting referenced by fans try and Target those games in this remember how I said if the steam doesn't know your um your tags they're just going to put triaa games I'm seeing a bunch of triaa games yes Resident Evil is very similar to your game but I just don't think it is like Uncharted anytime I see Uncharted in a and you're more
like this I don't think your tags are quite right I don't know what they are but what you do is that when you have the AI spit out all the games that are referenced by your fans um look at their steam page copy their tags and see if that improves it always keep track of your tags and then go back and look at the tags later okay um so that's that um uh so that's that let's see here all right let's do the next one um am I doing on time um again i' I've got a hard stop at the top of the hour so I'm going to try and get through all these as many as I can uh but we got about 10 minutes left so that's that thank you so much for joining me on this live call um so here we go we're going to do inferious inferious okay and that is that all right I'm going to short description of this a unique blend of Dante's Inferno and love cran horror um a firstperson
Rog likee deck builder using the major Arcana tyr cards to strategize against the horrors lurking in the darkness build the perfect deck challenge each ruler of the nine levels of Hell die often and repeat okay so um apparently you went viral on Reddit congrats and you have um um some uh uh demo coming out and here's what when I was looking at this again Immaculate Vibes cool Vibes but I don't get it okay and this is where I don't get the game okay and this is where um remember how I said your screenshots have to tell the The Game Dev Loop it has to like that's why I thought that short snow was so awesome cuz it was like you were hungry so you need to eat you have to craft things you have to
fight a wolf by shooting it and you could see like the gameplay Loop in the screenshots um your screenshot are pretty good but I just don't get it okay so let me show you what I mean by that okay let's let's look at this okay you again Vibes are good but I don't get it okay so um this right here I'm like okay yes I'm getting uh what's that game called INF um Inferno what was that it starts with an in it's a Rog likee deck builder game but you fight a demon um infest you all know you know it starts with an in inv vism something like that I I'll think about it but anyway this I'm getting vibes from that which is not a bad thing I'm like okay I'm battling against a demon with cards all right what does the card game look like like what I see this screenshot but what's next and I never got an answer for that and um when I got that I was like what I know it's like a a firsters card battler but how do they two how are you mashing
these two together okay how does it turn from this view where I'm battling a demon to this view where I've got a lamp and I'm going through a cool MCS like environment how do those mash up I don't I don't understand how these connect do I play a card and if I lose I have to get sent to the nether realm where I have to explore how does the card game sync up with the exploration that is my ultimate question and what kind of card game like I mean when I see the card game like I got cards but he don't why doesn't he not have cards like what am I what am I playing against like what are the rules am I playing poker am I playing po are these like I know the Tet cards but what do the tret cards do I should see a couple scenes where I can see kind of what the Tet cards are doing here something like that and this is where I'm just like I don't know and then I see a lot of screenshots that are this Lantern like always got the lantern Lantern I see that Lantern a lot so like what's the deal with the lantern I just
don't get it and I think your screenshots need to need to close that and then when I read the explanation a unique blend of dant Inferno and love crafting horror those are vibes okay but um I don't get the gameplay out of this where what is the gameplay like usually when people say x meets y it's a gameplay X meets y um and I'm just like well what yes then you say uh first first person Rog like deck builder okay but the thing about deck builder there's so much a variety within that genre that I don't understand so you need to explain the rules a little bit and you could say like for every tarot card you play you must fight that demon or something I mean I know there's nine levels of hell but I still like what is the game playay focus on the gameplay now I think you're like my vibes are cool and this is why you went viral on Reddit which I think like that is that is that that is nuts that is a nut so image that's cool and keep it you
definitely need to keep this this is the equivalent of that wolf trying to eat your face on dark snow or short snow keep that don't ever change that but what how does this relate to the cards like did I play the face hugger hand card dentata card like what is it and then this guy with a hand that's cool like you have cool things and then you get to these and I don't know what's going there's no longer first person cuz I don't see your hand I feel like you just win into the unity or unreal editor and just took some random screenshots like this this and that like these are cool but I don't get I don't get what's going on and so I would take those out these last three maybe that's cool too but I don't understand what I'm supposed to be doing like do I have a hand am I fighting that and so some of these screenshots and I know you're probably early and you're like well we don't have the UI built in but you got to show the cards how do the cards relate and so this um lovecraftian meets Dante's Inferno I don't think that's important I want you to tell me what gameplay things
are here what is the game play and that should be going into the short description um let's watch the trailer really fast just to see if there's any Mysteries solved there so again walking with the [Music] lantern okay still don't okay okay yeah you got to run good okay um again there's mostly walking Vibes I'm not seeing the card battling part or the Rog likee part and that's what I think is um I know you're running away but the Rog likee deck builder is a big part of it and I just don't see like you've got such cool monsters so cool um but yep yep I don't see anything about the Rog likee Deck Builder part you got to get that part in because here's the thing you've got great horror parts to it and that's great I'm not sure if there's a crossover between the horror and the deck builder fans I'm not sure that's going to be a big risk so I do think
what might happen is people think that's cool like what you just showed them and they're like okay going play this horror game and then they play and they're like oh God it's all this deck builder plus three uh Shield plus four minus two you know that's the whole thing about I feel like whenever I play a deck builder I'm doing like my tax form it's like okay well I do a plus two if I use my second card is my first card repeated against an attack versus a water enemy that's see that's that this is the risk is you're going to be I feel like the people who can do deck builders play Deck Builders are very analytical and they can do it and it's like I I can't do them deck builders they just too much plus to this if this condition is I can't do it horror fans are like don't tell me anything I just want to be Vibes I just want to Vibe out get scared and I'm afraid you've got a crossover and these two are going to conflict and I'm feeling that tension and so you need to be very clear on what's going on with that Deck Builder part and I feel like I feel like you're you don't know about much about deck builder like you don't
know what the deck builder part is and I can feel that tension so I'm like you mentioned it right up front as one of your genre tags where card battler where's the card battling that makes me feel like if if you're wondering you're like I don't know how to do it Lop off the card battling you've got great monsters just took to the monsters um so that's that okay um okay because what did they what did the fans on Reddit go viral it wasn't the that it was a rogue likee deck builder is the fact that it was a horror spooky monster thing maybe just stick with the spooky monster thing I don't know if the deck builder is doing it for you and it feels like you're just you you don't want to do anything about the deck builder part just you don't have to do the deck builder part I don't know I mean it's your game whatever I'm not your dad but just do whatever you want um okay I think I've got time for one more let me see if I can get this one done um let's see let me find I'm just trying to find in here uh I I have had over 200 that I'm trying to to boil down here folks um let's see
okay um let's try this one light of Atlantis okay let's do a slow scroll here okay there you go all right uh let me read the short description explore the depths of this ocean in this 2D puzzle Metroid Vania control the water levels and switch between various robots to solve the ancient puzzles of Atlantis Metro Vania puzzle platformer colorful cute very good nailed it I know exactly what this game is it's puzzle platformer it's basically Zelda's water temple for everything an entire game that is a Zelda uh water temple uh everybody's favorite um I think you nailed the VI um it looks good it looks amazing um this
is a case like I said if you're good at Art the world of Metroid vania's these graphical styled games you know that are very graphic intensive work for you so way to know your strengths and to play into it um um if you just scroll through I think the puzzle platformer I'm I'm a little concerned about just because um I think it kind of means something different um but you're getting all the right ones down here like um animal well I see your uh you've got hollow KN in there all that kind of stuff is there so I think you did pretty good that um let's look at your screenshots here um classic anytime you see a a power line here you're like oh boy puzzle game I got to do something and get this power and maybe connect this up and make sure this connects to this so the door unlocks you got it I know what it is that's that's the power of screenshots in UI you got very different colors every screenshot is a different color um which is great
that really shows the vibes your art is fantastic good job like all these effects everything looks different good job um I don't have anything anything to say about the screenshots look let's look at your trailer here um you've got let's see get the power up cool particle effects your game looks even Better In Motion you got to use that as much as you can the motion the screenshots are good um but you're gting the particle effects are Immaculate you got cool water effects um so yeah you that's good good good nothing I mean all this stuff one thing I see when I see a game with really good particle effects show them and you got them see that that gift this is a perfect gift um puzzle Platformers um are um liver die based off the puzzle you got to you got to show the puzzle a lot of the puzzle Platformers or puzzle
games in general that I was reviewing when I was trying to pick the puzzle games to show off in this review I couldn't get the puzzle I was like okay you told me it's a puzzle game but what is the puzzle in this one this right here I feel like every puzzle game needs at least one gift where you show one puzzle being completed from top to bottom so it's like oh I can transfer my control over there to hit a tag see that and then then you go there and it goes back you've got to show the loop of one basic puzzle being completed and you did it so congratulations good I like the steam page um way to go good job and you can show that you can shoot control over here see that's that that passing control to a little like life beam thing and control it that's the puzzle and you just got to show that one little tiny puzzle so everybody who's making a puzzle game do what they did right here which is like you show the smallest simplest puzzle like if this is portal you show shooting a gun of a portal there you showing shooting a portal over
here and then you walk through this portal and you end up over there you've got to show the core zero unit of a puzzle and they did it here so I have no feedback I mean he did it good job um uh great you did it good job and you got a demo fantastic that's it you did it I I I have no words you you did fantastic keep it up all right so those are my steam page reviews I got to end a top hour I'm really sorry got to I got to eat lunch and I got to get some stuff done but you all are awesome thank you so much for showing up uh one last time before I go I just want to show it off how tomarket game.com just go to how to marketting game.com click up here great Friday sale again it ends today by this time tomorrow no sale this your last shot I didn't warn you I warned you um one thing if you are in Europe one other warning please watch this video If You Are and you have a vat ID or something this video shows you how to enter your vat ID if you buy the
