The establishment of Wastelands S.A., headquartered in Łódź, marks a strategic expansion of the PlayWay S.A. corporate group within the Polish game development sector. Formed on July 25, 2019, through a partnership between PlayWay S.A. and several natural persons, the new entity is capitalized at 100,000 PLN, divided into 1,000,000 shares with a nominal value of 0.1 PLN each. PlayWay S.A. holds a 47% stake in the venture, having acquired 470,000 shares for a cash contribution of 235,000 PLN, while the remaining 53% is held by individual partners who contributed 53,000 PLN for 530,000 shares.
The formation of this joint-stock company serves as a formal transition for an existing sole proprietorship operating under the same name. Wastelands S.A. inherits all operational assets from its predecessor, including human resources, technical know-how, and intellectual property rights to existing game titles. This structural change facilitates a more robust corporate framework for future development projects under the PlayWay umbrella.
Moving forward, the management of both PlayWay S.A. and Wastelands S.A. will collaborate to select specific titles for production. This integration into the PlayWay ecosystem provides the Łódź-based studio with access to broader publishing resources and strategic oversight. The transaction reflects PlayWay’s ongoing business model of investing in specialized development teams to diversify its portfolio of gaming intellectual properties.
