Playtika Holding Corp. reported its financial results for the second quarter ending June 30, 2023, highlighting a period of mixed performance characterized by slight revenue contraction alongside significant growth in direct-to-consumer (DTC) platforms and improved net income. The company generated $642.8 million in total revenue, representing a 2.0% sequential decrease and a 2.5% year-over-year decline. Despite the broader revenue dip, the DTC platform segment demonstrated resilience, achieving $165.3 million in revenue, which marks a 9.1% sequential increase and a 7.6% rise compared to the same period in 2022.
Profitability metrics remained strong, with GAAP net income reaching $75.7 million, a 108.0% increase year-over-year, and Credit Adjusted EBITDA totaling $215.0 million, up 6.7% from the previous year. Operational performance was varied across the portfolio; while casual games saw a 3.7% year-over-year revenue increase, social casino-themed titles experienced a 9.9% decline. Key titles showed divergent trends, with Solitaire Grand Harvest revenue growing 26.2% year-over-year, while Bingo Blitz and Slotomania saw more modest performance shifts. Average daily paying users reached 307,000, and payer conversion remained stable at 3.6%.
The company maintains a solid liquidity position with $955.1 million in cash and cash equivalents as of the end of the quarter. Management continues to prioritize strategic acquisitions, exemplified by the recent deal for the Governor of Poker franchise, to bolster its growth profile. Looking ahead, the company anticipates full-year revenue to land at the lower end of its previously issued guidance of $2.57 to $2.62 billion, while expecting Credit Adjusted EBITDA to trend toward the higher end of its $805 to $830 million range. Capital expenditure expectations have been revised downward to a range of $100 to $105 million.
