Design and Development of a VR Serious Game for Chemical Laboratory Safety

The development of VR LaboSafe Game addresses the critical need for more engaging, learner-centered safety training in chemical laboratories.

• The VR LaboSafe project aims to improve chemical laboratory safety training by replacing traditional manuals and lectures with immersive, risk-free simulations of high-stakes scenarios.
• Initial usability testing yielded a System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 58.25, which falls below the target benchmark of 68.
• Physical discomfort remains a significant barrier, as 50% of the 10-person test cohort reported eye strain and blurred vision during gameplay.
